Check My Work

Check My Work is the mode for after you have tried the problem. Paste or photograph your working and your final answer, and the tutor reads it line by line, marks each step as sound or not, and points to the first place the reasoning slips. Instead of simply replacing your answer with the right one, it explains what went wrong at that line and what the correct move would have been, so you can fix it yourself and avoid the same slip next time. It works for math and science problems, short-answer questions, code snippets and translations, anywhere there is an attempt to judge.

Include the original question as well as your attempt, because the tutor needs to know what was asked to judge whether you answered it. Photos of handwritten work are fine if they are legible; if a line is hard to read, type it out. Say if you want a strict check against a particular method, such as 'we have to use the quadratic formula'. If your answer is marked correct but the method looks unusual, ask whether there is a shorter route. If a mistake is flagged, redo the problem from that line on your own before asking for the full solution; that repeat attempt is where the learning happens.
